Little Treasures

Last weekend we were at my husband's boyhood home sorting through years of accumulation, and I found a few little treasures I hope to share with you from time to time.
This holy card ("No. 2584 A. Made in France. Bouasse-Jeune. Paris."), opens up to reveal a litany I've never heard before. It seems appropriate for the season, so for your edification:

Litany
of
Abandonment to the Will of God

Lord, to Thy divine will and to Thy good pleasure I desire always to say:
Not my will but Thine be done!

To glorify Thee and to acknowledge Thy sovereign rights over me, I desire, O my God, to say in all things:
Not my will but Thine be done!

Because Thou art my creator and I belong to Thee, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

Because Thou art my master, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

Because Thou art my Father, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

Because Thou art infinite Omnipotence, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

Because Thou art Sanctity itself, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

Because Thou art Eternal Wisdom, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

Because Thou art the Supreme Good, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In consolation or in sorrow, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In indifference and desertion on the part of creatures, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In loneliness of heart and privation of every joy, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In abandonment and neglect on the part of those who are dear to me, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In the loss of those I love, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In the disappointments of friendship and under the ingratitude of men, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In barrenness and aridity of soul, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In fear and anguish, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In trouble, agitation, and disgust, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!

In sickness, in life and in death, O my God:
Not my will but Thine be done!
